Diary Entries on Progress.

4th March


In today's lesson I've edited the photo that I will be using for my article, and researched typefaces that I might like to use for the title of my magazine on the front cover. I will create a table and ask my peers which one they think would be best to use and I will use the typeface with the most votes. I am doing this so I am not bias in the typeface I choose.

6th March


Today I created the table that I will use to ask my target audience which typeface they think s best for the magazine magazine masthead. I started making my article today aswell, I have used the background of the picture but edited it so it is lighter.


7th March

In this lesson I have started writing up the interview on Microsoft Word. In my double page spread I will use a Pull quote and the heading of the spread will also be a quote from the article.


8th March

Today I passed the sheet with the typefaces around to my target audience and explained what it was for and they were very helpful.


11th March

Over the weekend I finished writing my article and in this lesson I have completed a rough draft of my article. I have used InDesign, which I have found very hard to use and the task has taken longer than I wanted it to.



13th March


I came back to use InDesign in this lesson, but I haven't been able to edit my rough draft of my article which I am very frustrated with. I think I must have saved it in a non editable format or something. I have not done much in this lesson because I've been fiddling around trying to find a way to edit my article.


14th March


After yesterday's lesson I still did not manage to edit my article so I have had to restart it, but I am going to do it on Photoshop this time as I understand Photoshop much better.


15th March


Today I started my Contents Page, so I will carry on working on my article outside of my lesson time. I've decided to use a linear arrangement for the text of my contents page and I'm using the 'Kerrang!' Contents page for inspiration and ideas.


18th March


Over the weekend I restarted my article using photoshop and worked a little on my contents page.In this lesson I have edited the main image I will be using and inserted the other pictures to be used in my Contents page. I will be using an image of my favourite band that I have taken from when I went to see them last year, a different image (for variety)of the famous artist on the front cover- and a picture of a venue and another gig I went to recently.


20th March
I have finished editing the other images (making them lighter/darker/cropping) and have started on the text on the Contents Page. For the subheadings I have used a typeface called 'Feast of Flesh', which I will use on my Front cover also. And for the text I will use the typeface 'Courier New',as it is what I'm using in my article.


21st March

Last night I had almost finished my contents page when my laptop just shut down. I had not saved my work for a while before it shut down so I have to do most of it again, and I don't remember the arrangement of my layers so I'm very annoyed because I thought it was coming along well. This has set me further back than I was with having to redo my article.


22nd March


This lesson I've restarted my cover page from where it was last saved (near the start). I know what the text will say, and the re-editing of the pictures won't take too long (I know how I want them- I don't save the edited pictures because I prefer to keep the originals).


25th March


Over the weekend I finished my article and had a small amount to finish on my contents page (I saved throughout its recreation!)which I completed in this lesson. I will be starting my front cover tomorrow.


27th March


Today I started my front cover, I am using the same photo I have used in my article because currently I do not have any photos that have a direct mode of address that I like except one but I took it in black and white which wouldn't look very good on my front cover because there would be other colour pictures on there,so for now I'm just going to use the same image as in my article, and as soon as I take another, better one, I'll change the image.

28th March

College broke up for Easter today, so I did not have a media lesson, but I have just finished my cover page at home. I will be starting my evaluation questions this week and hope to have finished or at least as near to finishing as possible by the end of the holiday. On returning to college, I will give my teacher physical copies of my construction for feedback. I will have a week before the deadline to improve on my construction and evaluation.

1st April

I have started writing my evaluation questions today, I've decided I'm going to finish writing out as many as I can today and tomorrow and then I'll start putting them in format. I've written out questions 1-4 today, I'll do the rest of them tomorrow.

2nd April

Today I finished writing out questions 5-8. I think they're okay, and it's taken me the most part of yesterday and today to finish them, I will start putting them in format in the next few days.


8th April

Unfortunately I did not have time to do any media after my last entry, but today I have put the first and and second question into format. The first question is on GoAnimate, while the second question is a PowerPoint presentation. I didn't want to use PowerPoint as they can be quite dull and boring, but I thought about the different formats I can put my evaluation questions in, and I just needed one more format to and I would have all my evaluation questions done, but I couldn't really think of any other formats I could use except PowerPoint.

9th April

I've put question  four and six into format today,










18th April


In this lesson I started putting my question 3 into format, so far it is going well. I will finish it when I get home and upload the link to my blog. I realise that I have a lot to do over the next few days so I'll get on with it.
